How do Dutiful Daughters choose their carers for clients?

There are a number of considerations that are made including age, gender, cultural affiliations, and language requirements and most importantly the quality of care required by the client. It is also a requirement that the Carer has the suitable and appropriate training for each client.

Can a carer assist with medication?

Legislation under the Drugs Act states that only Medically trained professionals including Doctors, Nurses are trained in administering drugs. Our Carers can prompt and remind a client to take their medication.

Are Dutiful Daughters Carers police checked?

All carers must complete the NSW Health Working with children clearance check along with a Police Criminal record check. It is also a requirement that they supply three referees for detailed reference checks completed by a Manager.

What happens if mum doesn’t agree with the choice of carer?

You advise the office and we will discuss placing another carer to assist the client. Or one of our Care Coordinators will arrange a meeting with you and the client to review her needs.

What happens if I need to cancel the service?

We can cancel the carer (at no cost to you) if we are advised more than twenty four hours prior to the shift commencing.

If I want to extend my service how do I arrange this?

During the week our office is open 8.30 - 4.30pm, at other times the phone is answered by our on call staff who will be willing to assist with your needs.

Do you have carers trained in looking after people with Dementia?

With over 90 carers available and many having completed their Certificate III in Aged and Community Care they are fully trained in assisting people with Dementia.

Why can’t I just have one carer involved in Mum’s 24 hour care as she doesn’t need a lot of looking after?

Passed experiences of carers working full time for one client results in burn out or complacency. Many clients have expressed the problem with not being comfortable asking their carer to do tasks because they are now regarded as their friend. With Dutiful Daughters carers we believe in coordinating a suitable roster to assist so that there is quality carers working as Professionals in their field and who also understand the importance of allowing the client some space in their home (if required).

Do we pay the carer for their service?

Dutiful Daughters will send you an invoice on a weekly basis. This makes it more comfortable for our clients not to have to deal with cash after their service.

Are the Carers covered by Workers Compensation and liability insurance?

Our Carers are covered by Dutiful Daughters Workers Compensation and Insurances.

How can I settle the account because I can’t write my cheques any more?

We accept payment by most methods including telephone banking, BPAY, credit card or cheques.
