Client frequently asked questions:

Have you any unanswered questions?
Below are some of our most frequently asked questions about the support we offer.

Q. How does Dutiful Daughters choose their Care Workers for Clients?

A. There are a number of considerations that are made including age, gender, cultural affiliations, and language requirements, and most importantly the extent of quality of care required by the Client. We also ensure that the Care Worker has the relevant and appropriate training for each Client.

Q. Can a Care Worker assist with medication?

A. Legislation under the Drugs Act states that only medically trained professionals, including Doctors and Nurses, are trained in administering drugs. Our Care Workers can prompt and remind a Client to take their medication.

Q. Are Dutiful Daughters Care Workers police checked?

A. All our Care Workers must complete the NSW Health Working with Children clearance check along with a Police Criminal record check. It is also a requirement that they supply three referees for detailed reference checks, completed by a DD Manager, prior to commencing employment.

Q. What happens if my loved one doesn't agree with the choice of Care Worker?

A. You advise the office and we will discuss placing another Care Worker. Or one of our Care Coordinators can also arrange a meeting with you and the Client to review their needs.

Q. What happens if I need to cancel the service?

A. We can cancel the Care Worker (at no cost to you) if we are advised by 5pm the day prior to the service commencing. If cancelling later than 5pm on the day prior, we need to pay the Care Worker so there is a cancellation charge payable.

Q. If I want to extend my service how do I arrange this?

A. During the week our office is open 8.30 - 4.30pm.  At other times the phone is answered by our on call staff who are willing to assist you with any of your requests.

Q. Are the Care Workers covered by Workers Compensation and liability insurance?

A. Our Care Workers are covered by Dutiful Daughters Workers Compensation and Insurances.

Q. Do you have Care Workers trained in looking after people with Dementia?

A. With over 90 Care Workers available, and most having completed their Certificate III in Aged and Community Care or similar, we have many that are fully trained in assisting people living with Dementia.  We offer our Care Workers in house training and external training on a regular basis. We recognise the importance of upskilling our Care Workers to ensure that they continually grow and expand their abilities.

Q. Why can't I just have one Care Worker involved in the 24 hour care of my loved one as they don't need a lot of looking after?

A. From past experience we have found that Care Workers working full time for one Client results in burn out or complacency. Many Clients have also expressed the problem with not being comfortable asking their Care Worker to do tasks because they are now regarded as their friend. With Dutiful Daughters Care Workers we believe in coordinating a suitable roster to assist so that there is quality Care Workers working as Professionals in their field and who also understand the importance of allowing the client some space in their home (if required).

Q. Do we pay the Care Worker for their service?

A. No, Dutiful Daughters will send you an invoice on a weekly basis. This makes it more comfortable for our Clients not having to deal with cash after their service. We offer a number of payment options such as telephone banking, BPAY, cheque and credit card facilities.  We can organise the easiest and most effective method for you to pay, no matter the circumstances. Invoices can be emailed or mailed to any nominated person who is responsible for their own account or settling the account on behalf of another person.

Q. How can I settle the account?

A. We accept payment by most methods including telephone banking, BPAY, credit card or cheques.
